Parkway UCC in Minneapolis
in the next few months and you will get a
church congregation.
Well, I finished this drawing in time to take it to the Mn. State Fair Fine Arts Building. I took it in on Friday, even though I had until Sunday afternoon to get it in. I could have worked for weeks longer to get everything right, but I didn’t, and I will find out by this Thursday if the judges liked it or not. I’m trying very hard to Not get my hopes up. So, which ever way the judges decide, I was able to finish it, and I’m okay with it.
Because I had a deadline and was able to meet it, it has given me the desire to keep on drawing. I’m mostly done with my collie Annie, and after that I will be starting one of my middle child when he was a toddler.
Here is Ethan finished, and I’ll post good or bad news on Thursday.
I’ve been hard at work on this drawing. I’m pretty sure I’ll be finished with it by the 28th of July.
I reworked the mouth several times and I still don’t have it right, but I have time (sort of). There are many, many more layers to put on and half as many to take off.
I pressed ‘Like’ for the Minnesota State Fair on Facebook, so I get updates on what’s going on when, what band is playing on the different stages, what new ‘deep fried’ food will be introduced, etc. There are a few things that I always have to do at the Great Minnesota Get Together:
1) eat a corn dog
2) have a strawberry malt in the building that has the butter sculptures
3) wander through the 4H building
4) drool over the different art media in the Fine Art building
5) see all the animals
I follow some Art Blogs, and have since been inspired by one in particular, http://portraitartistsblog.blogspot.com. I am in love with her drawing style. I don’t think I could ever hope to draw like her, but I vow to do my very best with the ability I have. So, when I saw that the deadline for submitting a Registration for the Art Exhibit was July 11, I decided that I had absolutely nothing to lose but some time put to good use finishing my drawing. I couldn’t decide between the drawing of Annie (which is unfinished) and the drawing of Ethan (which is also unfinished). I asked David for his opinion and he first said Annie, then changed his mind and picked Ethan, because he thought a little boy with a fishing pole would be a better subject than a dog. Good choice, because that was the one I really wanted to finish.
I was going to my sister’s cabin on July 11th to assess the storm damage they recently got and almost forgot about the deadline. Something made me turn on my computer that morning…probably the thought that I would be without internet access for a couple of days. OH No!! I got the registration filled out, I sent it off, and I waited for my email reply that it was received, then off I went with my sister. (there was a LOT of tree damage and we had a great time)
I actually have until July 28th to finish it and I certainly hope I don’t do my usual and wait until the very last moment. I’m not up to putting myself through that much needless stress anymore, so I WILL be getting back to it tomorrow. I’m hoping it will be chosen to exhibit, but I’m not really expecting it. (it sure would be awesome though) I’ll be keeping my fingers and toes crossed anyway!
I drew Kira and I drew Andy. I made a scrapbook for Kira and I have most of Andy’s done. I have a lot of baby pictures of Kira and quite a few of Andy.
Then there is Ethan…I have his scrapbook, but there are no pages in it yet. I have baby pictures of him but not nearly as many as the first two, mainly because my camera was stolen. I had started a drawing of him years ago but never finished it, so I Finally started over and here is what it looks like, in the beginning!
I had this posted earlier, but I wanted the picture bigger and I couldn’t figure out how to do that, so I deleted it and here it is again!
This sweet little baby is about 7 months old already! Time sure does fly by quickly…kind of sad.
Cassie’s sweet little baby girl’s name is Sophia. What a little doll she is. I finally got to see her a couple of weeks ago at her baby shower, and of course I wasn’t finished with my gift, (nothing new there! tsk) Cassie isn’t quite back to work yet, and I got her OK to post pictures before she gets to see it first hand. Once again, it looks better in person than in picture. I’m thinking it has to be my bad eyes, because both cameras give slightly blurry images. I would say maybe it’s the medium I’m drawing with, but I’ve looked at other art blogs and their pictures are very clear and sharp. Emily? A little help please! haha
